The
Vietnamese American Community is growing in both population
size and political influence. As the Community matures, it
needs dynamic young people with leadership skills and the
vision to lead. Young Vietnamese Americans will need to hone
their talents by understanding the complex national and
local issues that affect their communities, bridge the
generation and cultural gaps, and effectively lead by
example.
Recognizing the emergence of this young population and its
impact on the political, economic, and social spectrums, the
Vietnamese American Youth Leadership Conference (VAYLC)
seeks to harness this energy by bringing young Vietnamese
Americans and Asian Americans students and professionals to
Washington, D.C. for a three-day summit from June 26-28,
2003.
VAYLC's object is to create a venue where young people may
share their ideas, values, and goals with one another. In
order to influence policy decisions or political change at
the national level, there must be a solid foundation of
focused, grass-roots advocacy at the local level. VAYLC
realizes that the enthusiasm and expertise needed to build
the Vietnamese American community may be easily found among
industrious young people and adults from all across the
United States.
How can you benefit from VAYLC? Leadership and team-building
abilities are undoubtedly the cornerstones for success. The
presenters and speakers at
VAYLC will share their own professional and personal
experiences with you about the lessons they have learned,
and teach you the skills you will need to unite your student
organizations, to build and expand a non-profit
organization, and to network in a professional environment.
Speakers and
workshop presenters will be
available for you to engage and address specific concerns.
VAYLC is an educational leadership conference and our
programs are designed to inspire today's outstanding young
adults to reach your full leadership potential. This
conference offers talented young people the most authentic
leadership opportunities in a real world setting today by
testing your abilities, improving your confidence, and
charging your skills in a dynamic, hands-on atmosphere of
challenge and fun.
VAYLC welcomes you and we look forward to meeting you in
June for the conference.
