About NCVA
Founded in 1986, the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community advocacy organization working to advance the cause of Vietnamese Americans in a plural but united America – e pluribus unum – by participating actively and fully as civic minded citizens engaged in the areas of education, culture and civil liberties.

Release of Vietnamese Socioeconomic Census Data

UNITED STATES CENSUS 2000

In recent weeks, the U.S. Census has released national level socioeconomic and educational 2000 census data for Vietnamese in the United States. The following are highlights from this long-awaited data. The comparable 1990 figure is in parentheses.

U.S. Vietnamese Median Family Income 2000 - $46,929 ($29,800)
% U.S. Vietnamese with Public Assistance Income in 2000 - 10.2% (25%)
% U.S. Vietnamese Families Below the Poverty Level in 2000 - 14.3% (24%)
% U.S. Vietnamese Population in Owner Occupied Housing in 2000 - 59.6% (43.0)
